Elaine, who works at the Joliet Area Historic Museum was very helpful & directed me to the Joliet Prison where year 1 of Prison Break and some scenes from The Blues Brothers were filmed. Elaine asked me to say high to Amy at the Cafe on the Route in Baxter Springs KS, the people at Afton Station in OK & Delra at the Barstow, CA Route 66 Museum.
Passed by Route 66 Dragway where NHRA qualifying was taking place. Seeing more stuff that I expected to see such as old garages and drive-in diners.
Road covered with water when I tried to go to campsite. Local resident showed an alternate route. They've had more than 9" of rain here this week & had 3 storms pass through Sat. that each dropped about 1". Cleared up here in the p.m.. I was fortunate that I saw bad weather around me but no rain on me and the wind was a little weaker than yesterday.
Joliet Prison gate in picture is where Jake (John Belushi) exited and was picked up by Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) in Blues Brothers movie.

Hi Ron,
I can't wait to join you in California. How wonderful that you are finally on Route 66! May the wind weaken and the rain lessen and the sun shine on you (but not too hot). I'm enjoying your blog and the pictures you put up.
Much love, Ruth xo xo
Hey Ron
Really great pictures and sounds like its everything you hoped it would be. I am amazed at the amount of Route 66
related things you have seen already. Looking forward to your next entry.
Happy biking
Brother Don
