Cool compared to yesterday.
Another great day. Second day in a row with no clouds in the sky & winds were moderate.
I had a great day once I got on the road but Friday 13 wasn't too good for Kirby & Ken. Ken's Harley wouldn't start so spent part of the morning trying to diagnose the problem. Believe it's the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Ken is riding his other bike - the one Kirby was riding - back to Louisiana to pick up his truck and trailer to bring the Harley home while Kirby hangs around at the Tucumcari KOA with the bike.
Didn't get away until 11:40 as a result so was going to shorten my ride day until Kirby suggested that I take their Kamping Kabin at the KOA in Gallup, for which Ken already paid. Offered to reimburse them if I made it to Gallup but he refused and said it was just going to be unused anyway.
If I had a dollar for every cattle guard I saw or rode over today, my trip would be free. They're on Route 66 at most entrances to the Interstate. Cows must have gotten out of the endless range country quite often.
Saw my first Tumbleweed Warning sign just south of Sante Fe on the Turquoise Trail. Took this road to Albuquerque since I hoped it would provide a chance to put a little wear on the sides of my tires after being forced to drive down I-40. It didn't disappoint in some areas.
The sun begins setting around here shortly after 20:00. As it drops so does the temperature from upper 20's C to lower 20's C. Can watch the numbers dropping on the digital thermometer mounted on my bike. More comforable sleeping here at night than it was in previous states, even if the daytime high here may be much higher.
Passed over the Continental Divide shortly before arriving at Ken's Kamping Kabin at the KOA in Gallup. Oops, KKK is not a good thing.
Very close to Arizona now.
