Day 15 - Tue, June 17, 2008 - Pomona , CA - 98.1 km, Total 5508.7 k

High temp today 35C/95F.

Went up to the KOA office and with much appreciated assistance from Nancy and Diana was able to locate a Honda dealer with a Bridgestone Touring tire in the size I needed. Went to the shop and purchased tire only to find that they would be unable to mount it until late afternoon. Asked the service manager if I could get it done more quickly somewhere and he called Yamaha of Cucamonga and they said they would be able to do it as soon as I got there. Was going to buy the tire from them but since they only had sport tires that would wear more quickly, I took the Bridgstone with me. Got there at about noon so the service manager said that I would have to wait until after lunch. Since I had to wait, I removed the trailer hitch to make it easier to remove the tire. Immediately after lunch they took the bike into the shop and began working on it. I reinstalled the hitch when they were finished and was off. Definitely recommend these guys to any motorcyclist as they were very helpful in getting a traveler back on the road.

Met Roderick and Ruth from the Netherlands. They are tenting here and are on traveling in California by bicycle.

Intended to visit NHRA Museum located on the adjacent Fairgrounds but they are only open Wed. thru Sun. Hope to be packed up and visit the museum at opening time of 10:00 before setting off on the last leg of Route 66 to Santa Monica.

Looks like things are going pretty goods. Sounds like lots of fun so far except the hassle with the tire but looks like thats behind you now. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hey there Ron! Ruth sent us the link to your blog and it looks like you are having a blast!!! Hope you are still the "Last Man Standing" at each watering hole you pass. We still have fond memories of the Windjammer Cruise, and think of you often!

Hey Kristin, nice to hear from you. Trying out new beers as I find them & was at a bar in a bowling alley next door to where I stayed. They have 40 different drafts so I sampled a few that are brewed for them. Think of you guys & the cruise too & would like to go for another one soon. Say hi to Brian & stay tuned.
